We all witnessed the unbelievable conclusion to UFC 194: José Aldo, longstanding champ of the featherweight class, was dethroned in just 13 seconds by interim titleholder Conor McGregor.  We’ll never forget the beatdown that Chris Weidman suffered at the hands of Luke Rockhold, either, surrendering his middleweight title belt and flawless record in one fell swoop.

That was a legendary night, but now it’s time to look ahead to UFC 195, which will finally deliver the much-anticipated welterweight title fight we’ve all been waiting for.

Main Event:  World Welterweight Title Fight

UFC-195-Robbie-Lawler-Carlos-Condit

This match-up between Robbie “Ruthless” Lawler and Carlos “The Natural Born Killer” Condit will deliver a bloody brawl filled to the brim with fast strikes and plenty of bruises.  Originally planned for the UFC 193 fight card, this fight had to be rescheduled after a thumb injury forced Lawler to withdraw.

Let’s start off with the champ: put simply, Lawler is terrifying inside the Octagon.  According to light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier, Lawler is one of the “meanest” fighters in the UFC today.  His brutal strikes aren’t just delivered with fists – Lawler punishes his opponents with elbows and knees, wearing them down until they’re reduced to a crumpled, bloody heap lying motionless on the ground.

Condit was granted the top contender spot after earning a victory over Thiago Alves via TKO in May, leapfrogging over higher-ranked contenders Tyron Woodley and Johny Hendricks.  If these names sound familiar to you in relation to Condit, it’s because they’ve each beaten Condit once – though to be fair, both of those fights occurred before his 14-month sabbatical from the Octagon resulting from a torn ACL and partially torn MCL.

Our Prediction:  Lawler wins via TKO in Round 4.  Condit is a strong submitter, but Lawler has a great takedown defense.  Going toe-to-toe with Lawler will most likely prove to be fatal to Condit’s hopes of wearing the championship belt – Lawler’s knockout power is second to none.  If Lawler can shut down Condit’s shooting, he will definitely keep the belt.

Regardless of how this fight ends up, Tyron Woodley will most likely be on deck for whoever makes it out with the belt.  If you want to see “Ruthless” in action, check out the UFC 195 Free Fight below!

Co-Main:  Heavyweight Match-Up

UFC-195-Stipe-Miocic-Andre-Arlovski

This one’s tough, and odds seem to be close to 50/50.  We have a feeling this one will be going to the judges, and we don’t envy them the task of evaluating this bout.

Miocic’s last loss was to Junior dos Santos a year ago, but let’s not forget that the judges’ final scores were questionable at best and negligent at worst.  After the scores were announced, many wondered if the judges had even been watching the fight.  Even though it was a fantastic match and a close call, Miocic clearly had the upper hand throughout several rounds.  Anyway, let’s keep that in mind when we consider that Miocic has earned four wins in his last five fights.  He finished off Mark Hunt via TKO earlier this year and has proven that his stand-up game is especially dangerous.

Arlovski has won four consecutive fights in the past year and a half, an extremely respectable streak further legitimized by the fact that he was up against quality opponents such as Antonio Silva and Frank Mir.  These weren’t cupcake wins, and two of those victories came via TKO.  In addition to the roll he’s currently on, Arlovski is a battle-tested veteran in the UFC and packs a serious punch.

Our Prediction:  Arlovski wins via split decision.  Miocic’s speed will keep Arlovski from a TKO, but Arlovski’s got experience and a devastating striking game on his side.
