UFC Fight Week is just around the corner and anticipation is building as new fights are announced. This year’s Fight Week is one to pay attention to. Dos Anjos and Alvarez start things off Thursday in a unique midweek Fight Night competition. Brock Lesner is returning for a limited engagement in the Octagon. Jon Jones is staging his comeback in the UFC 200 title fight. Smack in the middle of things is the much-anticipated rematch between this season’s Ultimate Fighter coaches, Claudia Gadelha and Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

UFC Strawweight

No. 1 contender Gadelha (13-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) and champion Jedrzejczyk (11-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) are opposing coaches on the currently-airing “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 23 and sworn Strawweight rivals. The hatred and lack of respect are almost tangible on screen in each episode. Not only do these two spar in the Octagon, they also spar with words. Both fighters take every opportunity to cut the other down in front of the press. It’s clear, they cannot wait to take their battle back to the Octagon.

Rumors of on-set fist fights and verbal assaults were confirmed by UFC President Dana White. These two fighters have mastered the art of the stare down and aggressive attacks durring press conferences. Weighing in at 115 pounds, both women are quick and powerful. Both know their strengths and they aren’t afraid to let each other know it.

So, who’s poised to take the belt home on July 8th? My money is on Gadelha, urely based on passion. She wants this win more than anything. She needs to prove to herself and the world that she is better than Jedrzejczyk. Her team has dominated this competition and it would be fitting for her to walk away the champion. The 5’4" Brazilian beauty needs to be careful this time around, as her extreme confidence may be her downfall.

Jedrzejczyk is the best for a reason, I cannot deny her skills. To beat her, Gadelha is going to need not only physical strength but the mental fortitude to block all outside commentary. She will need to be quick to avoid Jedrzejczyk’s elbows and fierce strikes. As a strong striker, Jedrzejczyk relies on her punches to win. Gadelha is going to need to knock Jedrzejczyk off her feet if she has any hope of defeating her quickly.

While I anxiously await UFC 200, this Ultimate Fighter Finale is the matchup to watch. I cannot wait to see both of these fighters lay it all on the line for this title.
