Event-FactsWhat We Like About Showtime:

1. He Came Back Better

After taking a year or so off to a recover from an injury, Pettis returned to the Octagon™ in December to face fellow The Ultimate Fighter coach, Gilbert Melendez, hoping to silence critics.

He did that and more when he submitted Melendez with a guillotine choke. With his first title defense won, he has been exuding the confidence of a champion with staying power.

2. His Acrobatic Style

Not only is Pettis a gifted striker, but he has an incredible and energetic style to his fighting. He kicks, hits and dances around the Octagon™, almost making the submissions and knockouts of world-class fighters look easy.

3. He Has a Star-Like Quality

Similar to a Ronda Rousey, Pettis makes sense as a star. He is well-spoken, intense and not camera shy. “Showtime” is always ready to put on a performance.

Rafael dos Anjos

Age: 30
Hometown:
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Walk Out Song: “I Can’t Stop” by Flux Pavillion
Record: 23-7-0

What We Like About dos Anjos:

1. He's More Bark than Bite

When we last saw dos Anjos, he was taking down the vocal and volatile Nate Diaz. Dos Anjos’ domination of the straight-talking street talker is what earned him a title shot. It goes to show while Diaz was out talking to cameras and making declarations through social media, dos Anjos was in the gym preparing to win.

2. He Dreams Big

Although not near as big of a name as Pettis, dos Anjos is boasting an impressive record and has had a slow and steady climb up the UFC® ranks. Whatever the result of UFC® 185, this is a big moment for him and his career.

3. He is Becoming a Knockout Artist

Before the impressive Diaz beatdown, dos Anjos had two impressive wins via KO. One of those knockouts was against well-known and feared UFC® staple, Benson Henderson. With the win against Henderson, dos Anjos made a real mark in the MMA.
