UFC® 192: Social Media Roundup

Posted by Carolynn Wilcox on Sep 22, 2015 10:47:59 AM

UFC 192 is only a week and a half away, and we couldn’t be more stoked for the fast-paced, teeth-clenching action of MMA-style fighting and intense wrestling maneuvers.  How have the top fighters scheduled for UFC 192 been spending recent weeks as they prepare for this epic battle in Houston?  We’ve scoured the social media profiles of the fighters for recent updates and hand-picked our favorites for your reading pleasure!

Daniel ‘DC’ Cormier, Light Heavyweight Champion

Main Event:  Cormier vs. Gustafsson

Though he may not have the advantages of height and range that Alexander Gustafsson possesses, Daniel Cormier has proven consistently that being outmatched in those regards means nothing to him.  Being considered an underdog doesn’t discourage him, it just pushes him to work harder.  Cormier has suffered greatly in his life and overcome many difficulties to become the man – and fighter – he is today.

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where you stand in moments of comfort and convenience, but how he stands up when he’s faced with challenges and obstacles.”
- Daniel Cormier, adapted from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Alexander ‘The Mauler’ Gustafsson, #2 Light Heavyweight

Main Event:  Cormier vs. Gustafsson

Meanwhile, in Sweden…Alexander Gustafsson struts his stuff on the catwalk!  Hope that’s not the outfit he’s picked out for his title fight at UFC 192, because that coat looks like it’s dry clean only.  Don’t let the turtleneck fool you – his other posts are all about training hard and preparing for the brutal challenge he faces in October!  Gustafsson plans to use his height, footwork and wrestling defense to strap Cormier’s hard-won light heavyweight belt around his own waist.

Tyron ‘The Chosen One’ Woodley, #3 Welterweight

Co-Main:  Woodley vs. Hendricks

If Muhammad Ali knocked out an opponent in a forest and no one was there to hear him hit the ground, would Ali still be the greatest boxing heavyweight to have walked the earth?  Tyron Woodley would probably answer that riddle with a resounding ‘yes.’  Ali is widely regarded as an incredibly inspirational athlete because of his strong set of values both in and out of the ring.  If Woodley is drawing from that well of inspiration as he prepares for the upcoming rematch with his old college rival, Johny Hendricks, we have to figure he’ll be in excellent shape for the challenge!  A win over Hendricks could finally earn Woodley a chance to fight for the welterweight title, and that’s a battle he’s been looking forward to for years.

Johny ‘Bigg Rigg’ Hendricks, #1 Welterweight

Co-Main:  Woodley vs. Hendricks

Just look at that passel of girls with Johny Hendricks!  One can’t help but wonder if Hendricks is using his UFC career and apparent association with police officers to scare off future suitors of his daughters.  What a great dad!  Just like Gustafsson, all his other posts are about training, so don’t get the wrong idea.  He’s worn the championship belt before and regards Woodley as a stepping stone to earning another shot at the title.
