Well, UFC 206 went exactly how we thought it would. Sometimes our predictions are a little ambitious, but this time around, we hit the nail on the head. Max Holloway defeated Anthony Pettis via TKO in Round 3. And it was an outstanding fight.
Here’s a shortened version of what happened.
Round 1 was just what we expected it to be. Both fighters came out strong and landed clean shots. It was a close round, but Pettis had the harder shots and higher number of effective kicks – he won the round 10-9.
In Round 2, Holloway cranked things up a notch. His combinations were beautifully constructed, and he nailed several good shots. He won the round 10-9.
Round 3 is where things got heated. Apparently, Pettis broke his right hand so he had to rely on kicks more than ever before. For what it’s worth, he did fairly well, but he couldn’t quite match Holloway’s activity. Before we knew it, Holloway landed a series of body kicks and Pettis dropped. Holloway became the interim featherweight champion.
Better watch out Jose Aldo. Holloway is coming for you.
