We are back from Brooklyn and UFC 208!
UFC 208 kicked off the first numbered UFC event of the year, and it was certainly memorable, to say the least. We were all excited to see the UFC return to New York, especially for the inaugural women’s featherweight title fight, but the results ended up being some of the most controversial we’ve seen in a while and even had Dana White shaking his head. It was a bizarre night.
Holm vs. Randamie
In the main event, Germaine de Randamie nailed Holly Holm with strikes after the bell had already signaled for the round to end, but referee Todd Anderson did not take a point away. Had Anderson deducted a point, the fight would’ve likely ended in a draw. Instead, Randamie came out on top with all three judges scoring the bout 48-47 in her favor.
This scenario left many fans wondering why in the world Anderson did not deduct a point. It’s likely due to lack of experience, an issue Dana White pointed out in the UFC’s post-fight show. He believes referees from New York (like this) should not be refereeing a main event fight because they don’t have enough experience. And his point is entirely valid.
MMA fighting only recently returned to New York, and unfortunately, the refs in the state have not built up the experience yet to give fans the confidence that they can referee a main event. With time, we can probably expect this to change, and we should hold on to the hope that UFC 208 was just a fluke event and this type of situation will not happen again. But like most things, only time will tell.
UFC VIP Experience
Even with unfortunate situations and, to some, a rather disappointing night of fights, the UFC VIP Experience was nothing short of spectacular. It just goes to show that we can all still have a fantastic experience even in the strangest of circumstances.
Fans loved getting to go inside the Octagon and take photos with the championship belt. The hospitality party venue is always a big hit, and UFC 208 was no different. Combine the tasty cuisine and open bar with the opportunity to meet and mingle with UFC fighters, and you’re sure to have an epic night!
Our VIP program is also such a big hit because of our wide selection of seating options. Whether you want to sit on the floor in the best seats possible or in the riser for a budget-friendly option, there’s something for you.
Check out what our VIPs have said about this experience at UFC 208 and other UFC events:
It was the 3rd and best UFC i've [been to]!! Great show, fights and the view was spectacular. The vip lounge was also very nice. I will always buy from you now....–L.S., 208
I loved that I was able to make new friends. None of my friends back home are really UFC fans, therefore I had to make the 6-hour drive by myself. But it was an absolute pleasure to meet others who appreciate the sport as much as myself. I would absolutely do this again...in 2017. –T.P., 203
Amazing UFC VIP Experience! Epic fight and incredible fighter appearances. Prime octagon view with exceptional customer service. Thank you! –M.R., 202
UFC 202 was an incredible event. Loved everything about it from start to finish. It exceeded our already high expectations. –J.R., 202
The experience overall was awesome. I brought my 15 year old son for his sweet 16. He has wrestled for years and done MMA for a year. He is obsessed with the sport and trains his [expletive] off. He was just so excited to meet fighters and be a part of the UFC 200. He will cherish the memories for life. –R.B., 200
Unbelievable experience!!! We've been to nearly 10 UFC events in the past and we are kicking ourselves for not using the VIP Experience on every one of them. Yes, it costs a little more than buying tickets yourself, but the value far exceeds the price. Thank you for everything, we'll be back soon. –S.Q., 200
