UFC® Fight Night 104: Houston, Texas

Posted by Allie Shriver on Jan 17, 2017 11:47:11 AM

Super Bowl weekend sets the stage for UFC Fight Night 104. Hosted in Houston, Texas February 4th at the Toyota Center, Chan Sung Jung will face contender Dennis Bermudez for an FS1 card. The Korean Zombie is returning after two years of serving mandatory military service in South Korea. This should be an epic five-round battle. The co-main event is Alexa Grasso vs Felice Herrig in a strawweight matchup sure to thrill the crowd. Our resident UFC expert Mark has a few predictions for these fights.

Bermudez vs Jung

It has been a while since I have seen Jung fight, but I do remember his ability to decide his fights. Jung can KO you or Submit you, he adapts well to his opponent’s game plan. His only obstacle is to overcome his ring rust. Now Bermudez, on the other hand, has fought twice last year but left it up to the judges both times. Dennis has just as much gas in the tank as Chan Sung but must keep his hands up and keep the Octagon small. He is really going to have to work on his ground game and stay close to avoid Jung's lethal strikes. I'd say Bermudez takes this one by Submission in Round 3.

Grasso vs Herrig

My first time seeing Grasso fight was against Heather Jo, and all I can say, is that this girl can take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. She didn't finish Heather in that fight, but she did prove that her striking ability will keep her alive in any bout. Herrig is a complete opposite with huge success in her submissions. However, her stand-up defense is not so good. So, if Grasso can control the bout and keep it standing, she will come out on top. The last couple times I have seen Herrig fight, she has always pushed the pace and kept it fast. If she can do this against Grasso, we may see Herrig take the momentum of Grasso's punches and try to squeeze out a submission. Between Grasso's perfect takedown defense and Herrig's great stamina, this could be left to the judges. That being said, I will go Grasso with the win. Round 3 Decision – Unanimous

We’re in for a real battle in both of these fights and UFC fans won’t be disappointed. My predictions are a little different from Mark. I’m saying Jung wins by KO in the third round and Herrig wins by submission in the second round. Only time will tell and we’ll be there in person to keep you up to date.
