UFC® 207 Predictions: Amanda Nunes vs Ronda Rousey

Amanda Nunes and Ronda Rousey

It is finally here, not Christmas– the return of Rousey! As a female, I’m all about the girl power that is Ronda Rousey. As a UFC Fan, I’m all about the fight we’re about to see. UFC 207 will be one for the records. Like every major fight since Rousey lost her title last December, we’re hoping for a massive shake-up of titleholder. We’re giving you a breakdown of our predictions for UFC 207.

Fabricio Werdum vs Cain Velasquez

This is a rematch we’ve been waiting to see. The first time we saw these two face off in UFC 188, Werdum won the heavyweight title from Cain. Since that fateful night in Mexico City, Cain has sworn it was the elevation that threw off his game. Werdum fought hard and well in the increased elevation in a well-deserved submission win.

We’re hoping to see a full three rounds from these two former heavyweight champions. Both fighters are coming into UFC 207 off of wins over Travis Browne. This fight should have it all – strong jabs and quick movements in the Octagon. Velasquez last fought in UFC 200 which has given him more time to rest up and train for this fight. We’re guessing he will be well rested and dominate in this fight through the fourth round. Our prediction, however, leads to a decision win in Werdum’s favor. He’s going to catch his second win in the fifth round to hammer Velasquez.

Dominick Cruz vs Cody Garbrandt

Cruz will be defending his bantamweight championship against Garbrandt. This will be a big fight for Cruz, who has returned to glory after a three-year break, due to injury. We’re not entirely sure Garbrandt deserves this shot but the UFC seems to think he does. Garbrandt has a 10-0 record and is the most up and coming fighter in his division. With Urijah Faber in his camp, he’s destined for great things. Cruz is a staple in this sport and trains hard. While Garbrandt is super athletic and hard-hitting, Cruz’s striking is unparalleled. We’re predicting a Cruz win in the third round by submission. Garbrandt is no match for the veteran champ.

Amanda Nunes vs Ronda Rousey

While it seems like it’s been decades, it has only been a year since the queen of the UFC has reigned supreme. We cannot wait to see Rousey step back into that Octagon. After a shocking belt-loss to Holly Holm last year, Rousey has been finding herself outside of the UFC. We’re thrilled to see her come back with vengeance. Holm lost the title not too long after this fight and the belt in a twisted year is now in the hands of Nunes. The Lioness is looking to make mincemeat of Rowdy but we think she’s going to return home, tail between her legs. Rousey is hungry for this win. If she can win this, we’ll see the fight we’ve been begging for with Cyborg and then a retirement speech from Rousey.

Rousey will come to battle with a strategy this year having learned from her mistakes in the Holm fight. While her head may be telling her to stay home, her heart is telling her to come back a winner. We’re going with her heart on this one. She has been training hard the last few months and looks to be in top form. While Nunes is still reeling from her UFC 200 win, we think that’s as far as she’ll get. She was a star at UFC 200 against Miesha Tate winning by submission in round one but the tables are about to turn. We’re predicting a Rousey win by submission in the third round.
