As always, the summer will be packed full of UFC excitement! From Fight Week to UFC 214, we are so pumped for what the next month will have in store! Take a look below at the upcoming UFC events this summer and see what our resident expert Mark has to say about each of the events.

UFC Fight Night

Sunday, July 25

CHIESA vs LEE - One phrase…”Bad Blood”. Normally Chiesa is a laid back, respectful of everyone type of guy, but Lee struck a nerve when he mentioned Michael’s mom having tickets to the fight during the summer press conference. That moment has set the stage, and everyone will want to see “Maverick” use his fantastic scrambling ability to repay “The Motown Phenom” for the cheap shot he threw at the Summer Kickoff Conference.

BOETSCH vs HENDRICKS - Not a lot going on here, but the one to watch is Johny. He has had a battle with making weight at 170 lbs, but we are seeing a happy healthy “Bigg Rigg” with one fight left on his contract. With his recent talks about retirement, let’s see what the ‘new’ Johny will do in OKC.

HERRIG vs KISH - Keep your eyes on Felice here. Herrig was unsure of her future with UFC, but now after taking down the dangerous Alexa Grasso, Herrig is back in the spotlight against the undefeated Justine Kish. Look for tons of striking and a fast pace.

Friday, July 7

JOHNSON vs GAETHJE - Wooo Wee….Here we go. Johnson is looking to give Gaethje his first loss. With a mouthy exchange between the two at the summer press conference, “The Menace” plans to shower Justin with striking ability. These fighters, in my opinion, are easily matched. Expect “The Highlight” to give it all he’s got, mixing in his wrestling with his striking to remain undefeated.

UFC® 213

Saturday, July 8

NUNES vs SHEVCHENKO - These two have major respect for each other since their last battle back at UFC 196. But make no mistake, “The Lioness” will continue to use her aggressiveness to keep her title. After a close battle, Valentina knows she will have to apply her incredible Muay Thai skills with precision if she plans to take home the gold.

ROMERO vs WHITTAKER - While we all wanted to see this fight, we didn’t want to see this as an interim title championship bout. But nevertheless it’s here. Flying Knees from “The Soldier of God” and heavy knockout powered striking coming from “The Reaper” is sure to light up the Octagon.

UFC Fight Night

Sunday, July 16

NELSON vs PONZINIBBIO - Both of these guys are on a streak and show no signs of slowing down. Santiago is very aggressive and plans not to leave this fight up to the judges. But his ferociousness could be his downfall as “Gunni” may turn it against him using his strong submission skills to end this bout early. Don’t blink!

CALDERWOOD vs CALVILLO - “JoJo” has the city behind her here and with her dedication and striking, she will be looking to keep this fight standing up. *Cue the entrance music* the tiny Californian, Calvillo, has a boisterous personality which makes her appear as a giant to her opponents. And with amazing grappling technique, she has built a perfect record. Can she snatch another win in an environment painting her as the villain? We will see…

UFC® 214

Saturday, July 29

CORMIER vs JONES 2 - Nothing really to say here except, “IT’S TIIIIIMMMMEEE”! All that’s left for “DC” is to beat the man who barely edged him out with the judges in their last meet up back at UFC 182. Then you have Jones who just wants to put his past behind him and reclaim what is his - the light heavyweight title. There is no secret here, these two despise each other, and with this fight, the wrestling and the Muay Thai will rock with Honda Center. This fight will be the beginning of a new chapter for both fighters; don’t miss it!

CYBORG vs ANDERSON - One word…FINALLY. With De Randamie being stripped of her title due to refusal to fight Cris Cyborg, the Women’s Featherweight Title is up for grabs and Cyborg’s opponent, Megan Anderson, is more than ready for the shot. Fists will fly during this fight and it is going to be all else on Cyborg as she tries to figure out how to get around Anderson’s reach. Anderson won’t want this to go too long because Cris has top-notch endurance. Consider this the start of the Women’s Featherweight Division.
